De Sun Princess wordt namelijk het eerste schip van Princess Cruises dat vaart op vloeibaar aardgas (LNG) en daarmee ook het meest duurzame schip uit de vloot! Daarnaast wordt de Sun Princess het eerste schip ter wereld met een glazen Dome, een ruimte die zich aanpast aan de functie die het op dat moment vervult.
